Library in the Garden, Kasetsart University


     Green library is part of the vision of the Kasetsart University Library for the library development under Kasetsart University’s green campus policy. The University Library has developed the garden area between the buildings which was damaged by the floods in October 2011 to be the “Library in the Garden” to be the reading area for students and the library’s users. Besides expanding the reading areas which is not sufficient inside the building, this helps promote learning atmosphere under the natural conditions without energy consumption and is used for organizing reading promotion activities, in connection with the declaration that reading be the National Agenda as a result of the Cabinet Resolution to define the year 2009 - 2018 as the Decade of Reading.

The Objectives of the Development of the Library in the Garden

  1. To be the area for the reading promotion activities for commemorating Her Royal Highest Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
  2. To develop the garden area to be the library reading area
  3.  To expand the service area under the energy conservation concept according to the policy on green campus and green library


Services of the Library in the Garden

             The Library in the Garden is the University Library’s service area amid natural surroundings, including plants according to botanical families, vertical garden, and a waterfall. The services provided in the Library in the Garden comprises

  1. Self-serviced books and magazines for library users to read and return to the shelves in the garden by themselves  
  2. Reading area
  3. Learning area as a part of the library botanical garden
  4. Information and knowledge about vertical garden management
  5. Platform for reading promotion activities, concerts in the garden, and students’ activities
  6.  Coffee corner for selling refreshments to library users
